LocalAds uses JavaScript very sparely, however, some of our functions can not work without this little helper. Be assured that none of the JavaScript code on our pages will cause any unwanted or annoying behaviour in your browser, it is merely designed to make your use of LocalAds more pleasant.
What is JavaScript?
JavaScript is a technology that allows webpages to react to user request more dynamically. This may be the dynamic change of colours, a sophisticated, easy to use menu or the drag and drop of objects. However, some web sites use JavaScript to carry out functions that are unwanted by the user, like opening pop-up windows or page redirections.
LocalAds and JavaScript
You are able to use LocalAds completely without JavaScript and all major functions will work just fine. This includes
Searching for classifieds
Register as a new user
Send emails to other users
Price comparison
Browsing stores
Reading the help files
However, certain actions rely on JavaScript and you will have to enable it to carry out one of the following
Create any kind of listing
Create stores, notice boards and charity shops
Use the drag & drop functionality in LATEST ADS & NOTICE BOARDS
Edit existing listings or stores
Sort or approve notices within a board
How can I enable JavaScript
Most browsers allow you to enable or disable certain features in their options or preferences. Normally you would have to look into the "Security" section of the options. Below you find a quick manual for the most common browsers,
Internet Explorer Select EXTRAS - PREFERENCES. Then select the tab SECURITY and click on the button EDIT LEVEL. In the new window that opens search for an entry called SCRIPTING. Set the value of ACTIVE SCRIPTING to "enabled". Say OK to leave the settings and refresh the page to use Local Ads fully.
Mozilla/Firefox Select EXTRAS - PREFERENCES. Select the tab/section CONTENT and check the checkbox "Enable JavScript". Click OK to close the settings and refresh the page.
Opera Select EXTRAS - PREFERENCES. Select the tab MISCELLANEOUS and select the section CONTENT. Now simply tick the box "Enable JavaScript". Click OK to close the settings and refresh the page.
