Our search technology brings together all ads placed in LocalAds, irrespective of the source. This results in no differentiation between an ad placed by a large national retailer to an ad placed by a private individual. It is up to the buyer to decide what they want. Maybe they only want to deal with established retailers and buy new, or perhaps they are after an item that is only available second hand. Whatever the situation, LocalAds is there to help.

And of course our system allows you to search for ads the way you want to! Interested in searching all ads, or perhaps restricting your search to only classified ads, retailers ads, an individual retailer's ads or even an individual ... no problem these searches are all easy with a single click.

We also take our name very seriously. Not only can you set up local stores for businesses and communities, you can also easily restrict searches by distance. For example, you may only want to find all plumbers within 5 miles, or pianos for sale within 20 miles etc, with LocalAds this is easy.

Do I need to register?
You need to register if you plan to place Ads or open up an online LocalAds store. Whereas, if you only ever browse, there is no need to register.

What can I advertise?
Anything can be sold ... that is anything legal!

Do my ads get less priority than those placed by retailers, businesses, etc?
All Classified Ads placed in LocalAds are treated in exactly the same way as those placed by other advertisers. Obviously users of LocalAds could say only show me Retailer Ads, however, someone could also say, only show me classified ads!

Why are you not just a Classified Ads board?
LocalAds has looked at the traditional online classifieds ads market and saw that it clearly needs a shake up. We believe we have the market leading product for classified ads, shopping search and price comparisons. Previously these markets were artificially split, with entry by new participants difficult. We have taken away these barriers and provide access to all on an equal basis, irrespective of whether you are a private individual, an online retailer, a business or community.

Why are some Ads linked to a Store?
LocalAds is an online shopping search engine and provides a direct link to the product listed on the store's own website. This may sound complicated, but should you wish to purchase any item you must purchase directly from the store selling the product. We are merely bring two parties together and do not participate in the purchase. Any queries you have with products purchased must be taken up directly with the store.

How do I place an Ad?
Placing a classified ad is quick and simple and done through the 'Sell' menu, although you must first be a registered user. Your Ad will then be listed on LocalAds and visible to all interested. LocalAds does not prescribe how buyers and sellers make contact, however, our recommended method is through secure email¹ which ensures the sellers email address is not displayed, however you could choose to perhaps meet at the university bar, or simply the old fashioned way, via the telephone. Can I upload a picture?
You can upload up to five pictures for free. Do not worry about their size as LocalAds will automatically resize them should they be too large.

Does LocalAds protect my Privacy?
LocalAds takes privacy extremely seriously and as such we have developed a secure email system and strict privacy policy which means that your email address will not be visible to other LocalAds users unless you wish it to be.
